My standard king room was beautiful with a private safe, central heating, and a sitting area. The bed was large and the bathroom here was well equipped. Enjoyed the location that was amazing and incredible and short walk to a beautiful green valley in a nature reserve as well as the majestic mountains of the Swartberg...

The Retreat at Groenfontein offered a wide range of activities that delighted our entire family. From exploring the breathtaking surroundings to swimming in the refreshing rock pools, there was no shortage of adventure. The hosts, Marie and Grant, made us feel like part of their own family, creating a welcoming and warm atmosphere. The highlight was the shared dinner experience, where we got to know other guests while indulging in delicious food. Our children especially loved making new friends and hearing stories from different cultures.
My children wanted to stay longer!

I had the most relaxing and luxurious stay at this hotel. The location was simply breathtaking, surrounded by the majestic mountains of the Swartberg. It truly felt like being in the midst of pure nature, with endless opportunities for hiking and taking in the stunning views. The staff were incredibly welcoming and made me feel right at home. They even checked with me to ensure that I liked the ingredients used in my meals. The service was top-notch, with attentive housekeeping, laundry services, and a delightful welcome drink upon arrival. The room amenities were fantastic, including ironing facilities, a comfortable sitting area, and a terrace where I could enjoy the beautiful garden view. The hotel also provided free toiletries and had a lovely dining restaurant and bar/lounge area. I couldn't have asked for a better stay.

We had a great time during our romantic escape at this secluded hotel in the mountains. The stunning natural scenery and the birds around the feeding tray were delightful to watch. The staff was friendly and helped us celebrate our anniversary. We also appreciated the opportunity to swim in the rock pools and the natural dam. The provided home-cooked meals were delicious and generously portioned.
Although the location was beautiful, the dirt road leading to the hotel was bumpy and challenging to navigate in a rental car. there was no air conditioning which made it uncomfortable during hot weather.

I had an amazing stay in this remote hotel located in a beautiful green valley set in a nature reserve in the Swartberg mountains. The transportation was a bit difficult, but the hotel facilities and stunning location made up for it. The cleanliness of the hotel was impressive, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious and filling.
Could not be improved in any way.

We had the most amazing time during our recent holiday! the location was a bit off the beaten track, but the breathtaking views and quiet surroundings were totally worth it. We loved the fact that there were several trails to explore and swimming options in a dam and pool. the hosts were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the food was always fresh and plentiful. We also appreciated the fact that they were eco-conscious and off the grid.
The lack of air conditioning, but we knew this beforehand as this was mentioned on the hotel website. Some pesky mosquitoes did make an appearance, but bug spray was provided.
